Fearful Friday

Knowledge, wisdom, instruction and blessing arise out of the fear of the Lord. (Job 28:28, Ps 111:10, Prov 1:7, 9:10, 15:33, Isaiah 11:2, 33:6, Micah 6:9) There are so many passages in Scripture that command God's people to fear Him. Indeed it could be said that all of Scripture is pointing people to fear God, the Maker of heaven and earth. We know that this fear is not just of paralyzing dread but also one of respect, to be submissive to God's authority as Creator. Let us fear God, that we might keep His commandments. Maybe I don't fear Him enough.

Do not let your heart envy sinners,

But live in the fear of the LORD always.

Proverbs 23:17

How blessed is the man who fears always,

But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Proverbs 28:14

Fearless Friday

Get yourself up on a high mountain,

O Zion, bearer of good news,

Lift up your voice mightily,

O Jerusalem, bearer of good news;

Lift it up, do not fear.

Say to the cities of Judah,

"Here is your God!"

Behold, the Lord God will come with might,

With His arm ruling for HIm.

Behold, His reward is with Him

And His recompense before Him.

Like a shepherd He will tend His flock,

In His arm He will gather the lambs

And carry them in His bosom;

He will gently lead the nursing ewes.

Isaiah 40:9-11

Fearless Friday

When I am afraid,

I will put my trust in You.

In God, whose word I praise,

In God I have put my trust;

I shall not be afraid.

What can mere man do to me?

Psalm 56:3-4

"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
