Free Studio Consultations

The Anderson Music Studio gives free one hour consultations if you or your child is interested in learning the violin or other musical skill (theory analysis or music literacy).  I would be more than happy to schedule a formal or informal time to sit with you and your prospective students and answer your questions.  In regards to the violin, we can discuss how the instrument works, what may be expected of you as a student, what you can expect of me as a teacher, what materials we might use, what style of music you're interested in learning and whether or not your child is ready for study.

The links in the right sidebar may begin to answer some of your questions, but I am always available to speak with you specifically at a time that is convenient for your schedule.  You can contact me by posting a comment to this post or any post.  You may also email me at andersonmusicstudio@ymail.com

Personal information will remain private and confidential.

Studio News: Spring Recital a Success!

Meggan Anderson was very proud to present three students in the first Spring Recital from The Anderson Music Studio. Each student performed three songs before an audience of about 35 with Sarah on the piano, Mariana and Leah on the violin. We were also very privileged to have Mr. Luke Weathers accompany our violin students on the piano. Although each student (and teacher) experienced some level of anxiety and nervousness, each performed successfully and earned the generous applause of our proud audience. After each student celebrated their musical and instrumental accomplishments, a brief time of inspiration was shared with a teacher performance on the piano and violin. We continued the celebration with refreshments. I look forward to making this an annual event. Enjoy these snap shots.

Studio News: August 2010

New neon pens to help with advertising and as a thank you. I'll be more than happy to give them away if you would like some. They write great! If you're interested in ordering personalized pens, here's the name drop: Richard Taylor @ G3 Graphics Inc. Phone: 877-574-8292 X230

New recordings of Suzuki Volume 1 will be available soon. This recording is for practice only. There is no piano accompaniment and the recording is not professionally made. I plan to make it available for download in the right sidebar section under The Anderson Music Studio. And I also plan to copy it to a CD-R for my students.

I'm planning on taking a baby break once the baby comes and hope to resume lessons the first week in September. If this should change, each student will be notified. Any August lessons missed will be credited to September.

Studio News: Licensed & Official

As of today, January 26th, 2010, The Anderson Music Studio is an officially licensed business recognized by the State of Georgia. As required, said business license will be visible for public view during any musical instruction in my home.

One stipulation as part of the Studio license is that group instruction will not occur in my home. As a result of this, group instruction (multiple students simultaneously) will occur off-site. There have not yet been any inquiries into a group of individuals receiving such instruction and each request will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

At the end of every calendar year, each lesson payor will receive a detailed invoice they may use for tax/education purposes.

The Studio also has a new email account:

Studio News

I have been very excited to resume private teaching after two years' break for marriage and babies in rural Register, Georgia. (Note the Anderson Music Studio: Studio Handbook at the top right sidebar.) This has been great. I have already been teaching one new student since October and she is progressing wonderfully. There has also been a significant increase among prospective students and this is, of course, very exciting. :-) I have always really enjoyed teaching and I hope to continue to do so as long as the Lord allows. My only regret is that I didn't learn to play guitar from my Dad or buy a viola when I had the financial ability to do so.

There is one very important note that I must make concerning a change to the Studio Handbook. I am no longer offering music instruction outside of my home.

Previously I offered to drive to another location for a small fee per lesson for vehicular maintenance and time. However, after much consideration of the Proverbs 31 Woman making a successful enterprise within the context of her home, my husband and I decided that it would be best to keep my small business as such. Although my previous service was very beneficial for my prospective students and their families, I also have to keep the care of my family a top priority. This decision was reached by especially considering the potential thriving business this could become and the time away from my primary vocation this could present in the future. I am not an evangelical feminist. Being a wife and mother is my primary role, not financial provision. This is the reason for the change. This decision was arrived by much thought, discussion and meditation on the Word and we feel confident that this will honor and glorify God.

I appreciate your interest in receiving musical instruction from my Studio. If you must drive a considerable distance (which length will be soon decided and updated in the Handbook) then I may (or may not - I've not yet decided) offer a reduction in my hourly rates. If the removal of this service causes you to consider other studios and music academies, etc. closer to your residence, I pray you have a good experience wherever you may go. You may always ask for advice on specific string issues for which I charge no fee. :-)

If you have any other questions, please, feel free to comment, call or email me.

Grace to you.
Meggan
