Carnatic Violin

Although the violin originated in the West, it is not just a Western instrument. This style of music is an excellent demonstration of the vocal qualities associated with a non-fretted, bowed string instrument. This excerpt might make some of us Westerners a little crazy, "Pick a tonality for goodness sakes!" but it's always good to broaden our horizons, so to speak. I'm amazed by how easily and quickly he slides a whole step or more on one finger!
