The Waiting Game

For four or more players, ages 18 and up.

Player pieces: Buyer, Realtor, Loan Agent, Bank, Underwriter, Appraiser, Moving Helpers, Babysitters, Cleaning Helpers.

Objective: The Buyer must obtain a house with the aid of the Realtor.

Rules of Play: The Buyer must move from the Start position through 100 spaces toward the house. The Buyer and Realtor must select a house and obtain a pre-qualification from the Loan Agent and Bank and proceed quickly through the first 95 spaces. The Buyer must proceed through the last five spaces very slowly. The Buyer can only move to the next space until the Loan Agent has sent an email or answers a phone call. After receiving an email or phone call, the Buyer can move to the next space after signing and dating a stack of paper forms or go back a space if the Underwriter, Loan Agent or Bank asks for a repeat form or the pre-qualification expires. The final three spaces before obtaining the house, the Buyer must wait and call the Loan Agent every hour for positive news before moving to the next space. In the meantime, the Buyer must contact all other players 15 times to maintain status reports and configure countless additional modified strategies before moving ahead a space. The Buyer must remain by the phone, refresh the hotmail inbox pages on the laptop, keep an anxious attitude and a helpless, frustrated facial expression.

----------
The mind of man plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:9

I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait,
And in His word do I hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
More than the watchmen for the morning;
Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning.
Psalm 130:5-6
